We had an early load in and soundcheck..like 10am in the morning. It was an outdoor street festival and there were to be a lot of acts all day..so we had to get done early. The first opening act started at noon. They fed us good under a tent by the stage. Grilled chicken, sausage, roast beef, green beans..it was great! Michele, the girl who drove us around and to the hotel was great also. She was fun and spunky. Enjoyed hangin' with her.
They had a variety of acts performing...a bluegrass act that really rocked.. with a great acoustic player. They had a duo that was quite impressive also. One of the bands was a zydeco/reggae act that had a monster drummer. The band, KIngBilly that went on just before us were great also..they were young and working with writer/producer Trey Bruce
out of Nashville. Looking for big things from those guys.
Shenandoah hit the stage somewhere between 9:30 and 10 pm. The weather was perfect and the crowd was big but they seemed pretty worn out after having been there all day. We had a good show and they seemed to be appreciative.
Loaded out and got out of there around 1 am and hit the Huddle House, where some of us ate breakfast. Got back on the bus and headed back to Muscle Shoals, Al, where we dropped off Mike McGuire and Jim. The rest of us rode the bus on back to Nashville, where we got home around 6 am.
Yep..Another country music adventure had been had by all..
Down the road...Stan
